2009 - Chisinau
Participants: 20
Finances: We raised over US $400 for the international projects
Summary:
The OM Moldova team was involved in R4TW once again in 2009. It was a
beautiful day and we marked out a route which led us through sloping
hills surrounded by vineyards.
We made a bit of a deal with the team that if us fellers from the sport's department ran in the blue
Can Suit for the 5km we'd receive 500 Lei!
It's amazing what you have to do these days to get sponsors!

2008 - Slobozia
Participants
Our runners were from youth footballs teams that local partners OM Moldova helped to start in 2006. These teams benefitted from R4TW07 and were encouraged to find sponsors and "give back" in 2008. They did that with style!
Finances
We raised over US $700 in total. This was one of the first occasions that we know of where Moldovans raised money for something outside their own nation.
Summary
We ran in May, in the small town of Slobozia, south Moldova
R4TW 2007 raised almost US $2000 for a partner's training centre 'football court' to be built outside a training centre in the capital Chisinau. From this training centre, football coaches from all over the country are trained to teach soccer skills and life skills to young people in their teams. There is no other youth soccer league in Moldova and so this fills a vital role in the community.
Information abou that training centre project can be found on our project pages.
Matthew Skirton, the leader of the work in Moldova commented, "We wanted to encourage these teams that had benefited from R4TW in 2007 to give back in 2008."
That meant runs were held and money raised for the international projects in 2008. They contributed US $700 to the international projects.
Eugen Ciumac, R4TW coordinator in Slobozia explains: "It's great to see how the people have responded to the challenge to give towards a cause outside of their own nation's borders."
