Run for the World 2008 - Lancaster

Run

We held our run along Morecambe Promenade on 17 May 2008. It was a good day, not too warm, and the rained stayed away! Lancaster kids from St.Thomas's church Pre-school "ran" one week before. They were inside and had obstacles along the way. They gave 12 pounds towards the grand total!

Venue

We were due to run from a sports centre in Lancaster, but the week before our run were told that a cycle track we would use was being re-surfaced! So we found Morecambe Promenade. Then we found out our main fund raiser was not allowed by the police to enter Morecambe, but a few phone calls later we had permission for him to take part. Participants

120 people took part. 14 pushchairs, and one child was carried in a backpack for the 5km! The oldest runner was 61 years old, the youngest runner was 3 months old.

In total we raised over 3000 pounds.

Rewards

After the run, many stayed and used the cafe facilities at VVV, the sports centre where we began the race. Prizes were given out for the youngest and oldest participant, first past the post, and the one that raised the most amount of money.

Sponsors

We want to thank our sponsors and supporters: LHD Solicitors (Lancaster) and The Relaxation Quarter.
